Frequently Asked Questions
What is Infrared Detector Resolution?

Infrared detector resolution refers to the number of pixels in thermal imaging. Higher resolution means more observation and temperature measurement points, enabling detection of smaller targets at longer distances. Common infrared thermal imaging resolutions range from 256x192, 384x288, 640x512, 800x600, 1024x768, to 1280x1024. Higher resolution detectors typically come with increased costs.

What is Field of View (FOV)?

Field of View refers to the two-dimensional field of view observed by the infrared thermal imager's optical system in object space. Using horizontal FOV as an example: with detector array size A×B, pixel size d, and lens focal length f, the horizontal FOV angle θ=2×arctan(A×d/2f). After selecting the detector array and pixel size, the field of view changes only with the optical system's focal length: longer focal lengths result in narrower fields of view, while shorter focal lengths provide wider fields of view.
